Curiosity Crew
Mei
Mei is the Curiosity Crew’s master planner—the kid who can handle any surprise because she’s already packed for it. Her backpack is famous among the Crew; it almost seems magical. Snacks, bandages, sunscreen, extra hair clips, hand sanitizer, a flashlight, even a tiny sewing kit—if someone needs it, Mei pulls it out without hesitation. She’s a dedicated Girl Scout, and she takes every adventure seriously, whether they’re visiting another planet or stepping into the past.

Mei loves science and puzzles, but her greatest passion is history. Ancient cultures fascinate her—especially Egypt and Greece. It all began when her parents took her to visit the pyramids in Giza, Egypt. Learning they were built over 4,000 years ago left her stunned. How could people so long ago create something so massive and lasting? That question lit a spark, and since then she’s devoured books about pharaohs, temples, myths, and ruins. Her favorite Curiosity Crew adventures are the time-travel ones, where she gets to walk through the worlds she’s dreamed about.

Her best friend is Zara, and the two of them are inseparable. They have sleepovers, and they enjoy camping in Mei’s backyard to watch the stars. Zara loves stargazing, and Mei is always happy to join her—even if she’s the one reminding her to bring bug spray. When Zara told her that the stars we see are shining from hundreds or thousands of years in the past, Mei was amazed. Now she often wonders what the night sky looked like in ancient Egypt or Greece, and she dreams of Ms. Wonderly taking them back in time to camp beneath those same stars.

Mei’s love of puzzles began when she was five years old, sitting on her dad’s lap while he solved brainteasers. She was hooked instantly. Now she begs her parents for every puzzle book she can find. She loves word searches, tricky math problems, and building structures with blocks without looking at any instructions. For Mei, every puzzle is a treasure waiting to be uncovered—and every adventure is a chance to learn something new.
